RETURNING SUNSPOTS: Giant
sunspots 484 and 488, which caused so
much intense space weather last month but
lately have been hidden on the far side of
the sun, will soon re-appear on the sun's
eastern limb. The sun's 27-day rotation will
carry them into view as early as Nov. 18th or
19th. This Nov. 17th picture from an extreme
ultraviolet telescope onboard the Solar and
Heliospheric Observatory shows plumes of hot gas rising above
the limb--a hint of things to come.
