* * * * *Es wird dauerhaft nicht genügen 30'000 Leute zu entwaffnen, das ist eine typisch westliche Vorstellung. Das grundsätzliche Problem ist, dass keine politischen und wirtschaftlichen Strukturen im moderen Sinne exisitieren.
Was in Afrika nach der Kolonialisierung vielfach geschah ist meiner Meinung nach eine rasche Erhöhung der scale, der Interaktionsfrequenz der Menschen angesichts eines Bevölkerungswachstums - gefördert durch verbesserte Hygiene und Medikamente. Dieser Prozess war jedoch nicht begleitet durch ein genuines Wachstum der Zahl und Stärke der politischen, wirtschaftlichen und "sozialen" (im Widdowsonschen Sinne: gemeinsame Ziele und Werte) Beziehungen, Integration, Organisation und Kohäsion. Es ist daher leider nur logisch, dass das ganze System nicht zusammenhält, sondern zunächst gemäss dem "Gesetz" der Evodeviation auseinanderstrebt. In dem Sinne stimme ich Widdowson zu wenn er sagt:¨Africa is in a situation comparable to dark age Europe. It is going through the period of catharsis that is necessary for good things to happen. Only things have been worse, because Africa has been interfered with relentlessly by more powerful nations, and that has promoted insurgency and debt. It may take another couple of centuries for Africans to start sorting themselves out, but one day they will do so on their own terms. Then the world will see what they are capable of.
