China Sends US Bill For $1 Million For Spy Plane 'Expenses'

WASHINGTON - China has sent the United States a bill for $1
million for expenses it says it incurred while holding a U.S. spy
plane.
The plane made an emergency landing on Hainan Island in
April, after it collided with a Chinese jet.
Chinese authorities held the American crew for 11 days. The
plane was eventually sent back to the U.S. in pieces.
Beijing says the bill is for personnel costs and shipping.
The U.S. State Department says the bill seems somewhat
exaggerated.
One U.S. official said it's nice to know the Chinese "have a
sense of humour."
