Hallo,

für das Manöver gibt es auch eine "aktuelle" Webseite!

Ausschnitt aus der Übung: (engl.)

MORE THAN HALF THE NAVY’S AIRCRAFT CARRIERS AND 30 SUPPORTING SHIPS ARE AT SEA SIMULTANEOUSLY WORLDWIDE. THE LARGE DEPLOYMENT IS TESTING THE NAVY’S ABILITY TO DEPLOY MASSIVE NAVAL POWER ON SHORT NOTICE. PETTY OFFICER CHARISE CUNNIGHAM REPORTS FROM U-S-S JOHN C. STENNIS, WHICH IS TRAINING NEAR HAWAII.
SUMMER PULSE O-FOUR IS THE NAVY’S FIRST EXERCISE OF THE FLEET RESPONSE PLAN, AIMED AT NEW WAYS OF OPERATING TRAINING, MANNING AND MAINTAINING THE FLEET, RESULTING IN FLEET FORCE READINESS.
UNDER THE FLEET RESPONSE PLAN THE NAVY CAN PROVIDE SIX CARRIER STRIKE GROUPS IN LESS THEN 30 DAYS TO SUPPORT MILITARY OPERATIONS AROUND THE WORLD.
BEGINNING THE FIRST WEEK OF JUNE AND CONTINUING THROUGH AUGUST, THE EXERCISE WILL INCLUDE SCHEDULED DEPLOYMENTS, SURGE OPERATIONS, JOINT AND INTERNATIONAL EXERCISES AND OTHER ADVANCED TRAINING AND PORT VISITS.

It’s no surprise U.S. Navy deployments have the critical goals of mission success and a safe return home. But the carrier strike groups participating in Exercise Summer Pulse 2004 have another aim: exhibiting the power of the fleet under Chief of Naval Operations, Adm. Vern Clark’s new operational concept, the Fleet Response Plan (FRP).”

Evolving from FRP, Summer Pulse ’04 is an exercise intended to show that the Navy can be anywhere the President may need it and deliver an array of firepower for as long as necessary.

ACHTUNG!

“We’ve moved from our standard deployment pattern to the Fleet Response Plan where we promised the President of the United States that we can put six carriers anywhere in the world within 30 days, and [two more carriers] shortly after that,” Vice Adm. Michael McCabe, Commander U.S. Third Fleet said. “We’ve changed the way we maintain, the way we train, the way we equip and the way we deploy. As an example of that, this summer, in what’s called Summer Pulse, we will have seven different aircraft carriers with their supporting ships operating in five different theaters.”

Die Flugzeugträger (Flottenverbände!):

The seven aircraft carriers involved in Summer Pulse '04 will include: the Norfolk-based USS George Washington (CVN 73) CSG and the San Diego-based USS John C. Stennis (CVN 74) CSG, both currently deployed, and Yokosuka, Japan-based USS Kitty Hawk (CV 63). The Mayport, Fla.-based USS John F Kennedy (CV 67) CSG will begin a combined and joint exercise early this month, followed by a scheduled overseas deployment.

The Norfolk-based USS Harry S. Truman (CVN 75) CSG will conduct a scheduled training exercise followed by overseas pulse operations with the Norfolk-based USS Enterprise (CVN 65) CSG, beginning early this month. USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76) will conduct operations in the U.S. Northern Command and U.S. Southern Command theaters during the ship's interfleet transfer from Norfolk, Va., to its Pacific Fleet homeport of San Diego
