11:00 am EST Re: Official DATA discrepencies? Comet T7 -- NASA Vs. HARVARD --Who is Right?I have done a little looking into this so far myself...
I don´t think that it is a good idea for people to be afraid.
Let´s get the facts asap.
I see that the post by escalamonde is quoted as saying that Comet T7 will be closest to "Earth" on the 23rd of April.
I don´t deal with the ephemeris printouts on comets on a daily basis so I would rather see the orbital graphic and adjust the date myself to see the actual pictorial of what NASA claims is the supposed orbit...
I did that...
LINK:
http://neo.jpl.nasa.gov/cgi-bin/db_shm?sstr=C%2F+2002+T7They show that T7 is closest to the "SUN" rather than the "EARTH" on the 23rd of April.
I am assuming that NASA is telling the truth above.
However...
I have seen NASA lie on two main occasions where I have known directly to the contrary-- and NOT by heresay-- the first was the fudging up with the coverage and actual footage of Comet V1. The second was when we were linking to a possible Comet Kohoutek grazing into Mar´s vicinity (June 2000) with the above viewer, and after a while the whole orbit input from them to the orbital viewer was reprogrammed so it never even came close to Mars at all.
"IF" NASA were to want to shift attention AWAY from that date, how would they most likely do it and be able to excuse their mistake?
First of all-- there would only be two main choices to them: One, take the published data to pro astronomers and change it so that it would be off in any of the published parameters such speed or distance or angle etc.
The problem is that this Comet is going to be naked eye and there would be too many cats out of the bag with all the reports from amateur astronomers continuing to come in. CNN just reportedly offered $3,000.00 to any amateur coming up with shots/ discoveries of rogue objects/asteroids in the skys. Why? They may want to know-- OR they may be looking to take care of any leaks that pop up this way-- "national security"...
THE OTHER WAY--? just post the "Nearest Approach" data under the WRONG HEADING -- such as to the "Sun" -- instead of NEAREST TO THE EARTH -- and if asked--act like the putting of the data there was simply not "WRONG" or "FABRICATED DATA" -- but "SIMPLY A CLERICAL ERROR BY AN UNDERSTUDY INTO THE WRONG CATEGORY" heading.
I want to see the posts now of amateur astronomers here who post with real avatars-- the results of their OWN observations of these comets and then we will see.
Enough with this fear stuff.
..Wir warten ja schon direkt auf den Funkenregen und andere himmlische Erscheinungen - irgendwann kommt`s ja. ;-)
liebe Grüße
mica
