Also 11, ich hab mir das auch lange überlegt. Ich denke es geht so: es werden zwei Fichten-Baumstämme der Länge nach auf einer Seite flachgehauen und parallel aufeinandergelegt. Am dicken Ende wird ein großer Keil reingehauen der die beiden Baumstämme dann auseinanderhält. Dazwischen werden glühende Kohlen reingelegt. Nach kurzer Zeit dürften die beiden Stämme der Länge nach brennen bzw. glühen. Dann kann man sich links und rechts daneben legen und hat es über die ganze Länge warm.

Aber was genau war denn interessant in Bezug auf das trockene Brot? Da habe ich nichts gefunden.
